Not a lot is known about Kwan`s brother, Jason. He is younger than her, and at the beginning of the story still enjoys playing toy cars. Even through all the hardship their town has passed through, he still remains child-like and childish, exhibiting pettiness when it comes to Kwan. Even though he helps Kwan, he does it grudgingly, most likely purely out of brother-sister rivalry. Like the rest of Kwan`s immediate family he is a formidable Mind Shielder which lets him shut Kwan out of his mind easily when he wants to.
